Why is my Matte application fading?

Modified on Tue, 15 Apr at 3:10 PM

If you’re noticing that your matte color seems to fade after application, don’t worry — it’s usually just a small tweak in technique that’s needed to lock in that beautiful finish.

The Top Coat is designed to seal in your shade, so if fading occurs, it’s likely due to how the Matte was applied beforehand.

Key Tips for a Long-Lasting Matte Finish;

Tap, Don’t Press

When applying Matte pigment with your Mineral Bond Applicator, gently tap the product onto the nail.

Avoid pressing too firmly — too much pressure can push the pigment deep onto the nail plate and compromise how well the Base Coat holds.

Brush Off All Excess Powder
Before sealing with the Top Coat, lightly but thoroughly brush off any excess powder from the surface.
All visible loose powder should be removed. This might take a little extra time, but it’s worth it for a clean and even finish.

A little patience and precision go a long way when it comes to matte applications. With the right technique, your color will stay bold, rich, and fade-free for longer.
